Osteoarthritis – Cushioning the shock

Vaginal infection or vaginitis is common and is experienced by women of all ages and backgrounds, and there's really nothing to be embarrassed about. Regular check ups and open discussions regarding your symptoms will go a long way toward maintaining good vaginal health. Dr Ann Tan, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with Women & Fetal Centre tells you why you need not put up with the inconvenience, as treatment is just a chat away.

Vaginitis is described medically as an irritation and/or inflammation of the vagina. Vaginitis is a very common disease affecting millions of women each year. The three most common vaginal infections are bacterial vaginosis (BV), candida vaginitis (yeast infection) and trichomonas vaginitis ("trich").

"Vaginal infections typically present as an abnormal vaginal discharge, with or without vaginal irritation, soreness or pain. There is usually discomfort between the legs and difficulty walking or even sitting. Severe cases where the infections ascend up into the uterus will lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and lead to fever and abdominal pains," says Dr Tan.
